Te Ana Rock Art

Te Ana Māori Rock Art Centre offers a captivating journey into Ngāi Tahu heritage. Explore the interactive exhibits on site – hold moa bones, shelter in the Cave of the Taniwha and create your own rock art rubbings. Or book a guided tour to Ōpihi Valley to view the ancient cave paintings crafted over hundreds of years.

As guardians (kaitiaki) of one of the world’s most significant Māori rock art collections, Te Ana reinvests all visitor revenue into conservation and cultural education.

Open Tuesday–Saturday, this award‑winning experience is a must do for both locals and visitors.
